About Sally Middleton
Encouraged and influenced by my grandmother I have been painting in water colours and drawing on and off since I was ten. When my four children were young and we lived near the Hermitage at Mount Cook, I started sketching them with charcoal and pencil when they kept still enough. After studying courses on water colour, pastel and oil, I still regard water colour as my preferred medium especially when painting portraits which I love doing. Over the years I have exhibited in Christchurch, Akaroa, Wanaka, Kaikoura Mapua and Nelson. Recently, after having tuition from Min Kim I have been excited and amazed with the vibrant colours produced by oil paints.
